Multipurpose arena opened in Gaular

For more than 35 years the Gaular inhabitants have been waiting for a sports arena.

On Saturday 10 January the multipurpose facility was officially opened. The extension of Sande school had been completed in the fall of 2014. The school extension and the new facilities are stipulated to cost NOK 70 million, of which KBN has provided NOK 38 million.

The new indoor sports arena consists of facilities for soccer matches and tournaments. There are also facilities for spinning, weight-training, climbing and squash.  Concerts, exhibitions, conferences and many other types of events may be organised in the arena, Terese Myklebust, manager in Gaular sports club, tells the the newspaper Firda.

Gaular sports club has been raising money for the sports arena since 1980.

Gaular is a municipality in the county of Sogn og Fjordane in the western part of Norway.
