Kristiansand City Hall quarter

Green projects
The City Hall quarter in Kristiansand has been transformed into a new municipal administrative center. The venerable brick facade of Kristiansand City Hall now hides a modern, climate-smart office environment that meets Kristiansand's future needs without breaking tradition with the past.

The aim was to improve the accessibility to the municipality administration for residents in Kristiansand. The first floor is devoted to citizen services, where representatives from most service areas are on hand to provide advice, guidance and process issues.

The main entrance leads into the quarter courtyard that is transformed into a covered public atrium with open galleries, an open amphitheater that leads down to the conference area and the old 25 meter tall fire tower.

Kristiansand City Hall quarter is a modern office building with low energy consumption, built with environmentally friendly materials. Greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by 53% for use of  energy, materials and transport.

The total cost is estimated at approx. NOK 387 mill ex. VAT, and is funded by Kommunalbanken.

The additional cost for increased energy standards in accordance with the requirements of TEK 10 is estimated at NOK 16.3 million.
